What Is a Dynamic QR Code?

A dynamic QR code encodes a short redirect URL controlled by a paid service, letting you change the final destination later without reprinting the code — but it only keeps working as long as that redirect service stays online and your subscription stays active.

The tradeoff is real, not just marketing: dynamic QR services typically charge a monthly or annual fee, and if you cancel or the provider shuts down, every dynamic code you've printed silently breaks — even though the physical code looks identical to a static one.

This site's generator currently produces static QR codes only, which is a deliberate choice: no subscription, no dependency, no risk of a code going dead because a bill didn't get paid. If your use case genuinely needs to change destinations after printing (a long-running physical sign, for example), that's the one scenario where paying for a dynamic service is worth it.
