How-To & Troubleshooting

Can You Draw a QR Code by Hand?

Technically yes, but practically no — every single module has to be placed with pixel-level precision according to the QR spec's error-correction math, and even a small hand-drawing error will make the code unscannable. Use a generator instead; it's free and instant.

The pattern isn't decorative — every module's black/white state is a specific data bit determined by an encoding algorithm, not something that can be freehand-approximated the way a logo or illustration can. Hand-drawn QR codes occasionally show up as novelty art projects, but they're built by tracing an already-generated code precisely, not by inventing the pattern by hand.
